Create 3D Product Box Photoshop Design Tutorial

Step 1

Create a new document with following settings:

Go to your Tools Palette and chose Rectangular Tool.
Make sure you select Fill Pixels.

Use whatever color you want, it doesn't matter, in the end you will only see the image you downloaded from Duchesssa. But it will help to distinguish the rectangles in order to place them and form the 3D Product Box.

Make three rectangles, each one in a separate layer and with different colors.

Step 2

Here comes the fun part:
Select the layer with the blue rectangle. Go to Edit > Transform > Distort
(or you can hit Ctrl+T - to bring up the Free Transform outlines, and then right-click and chose Distort).

Drag the handles and start creating front side of your box.

Step 3

Do the same with the other two rectangles.

And this is what you have so far:

Set the foreground color to black. Take the Pen Tool, chose Paths and start drawing a triangle to cover up the white space from the top of your box.
After that – right-click and chose Make Selection. Leave the Feather 0px, click OK.

Press Alt+Backspace to fill the selection with black.
Move this layer under the others.

And this is your 3D Product Box!
But let's make it look more like a product box.

Step 5

Open the downloaded image and drag and drop it into your project.
The image is OK as it is but let's make it higher in order for you to fold it better at the top of the box.

Make a New Layer.
Take the Rectangular Marquee Tool and select like you see in the picture.

Because the original picture has a nice curve to separate the gradient's colors you will make one too.
Go to Marquee Tool and this time select the Elliptical Marquee.

Hold down Alt key in order to subtract from selection (if you want to add to selection press Shift. You will notice a "+" sign near your cursor if you add to selection, or a "-" sign if you subtract) and deselect like you see in the next image:

Step 6

Set the foreground and the background color:

Now you can fill the selection with the Gradient Tool.

It looks pretty good but don't deselect the selection yet.

Step 7

Make a New layer. Go to Select > Inverse, hold down Alt and deselect all the selection but not the part from above – where the purple color will be.

Repeat the last step, with the right colors, and this is what you have so far:

Don't worry if the image doesn't look good, it will :)

Step 8

Hold down Ctrl key and select the last three layers, clicking on them.
Then hit Ctrl+E to merge them into one layer.

Take the Rectangular Marquee Tool and select like you see in the next image.

Hit Ctrl+X to cut the selection and then Ctrl+V to paste it. Photoshop will put the selection into a new layer. Hide the new layer until you do the next step.

Do the same with the next selection.

Step 9

Select the layer with the front image. Lower the Opacity to ≅ 68% in order to see the rectangles below.

Hit Ctrl+T, reduce the image a little, so that the image will have almost the rectangle's size.
Then Distort the image, like you did at the beginning of this tutorial.

Do the same with the other two layers.

Step 10

Select the layer with the left side of the box and apply the following settings from Layer Style (double-click to bring it up)

Apply the same settings to the top of the 3D box.
And that's pretty much it!

You can duplicate the layer with the front image, place it below the others, fill it with black and then distort it in order to make it the shadow of the box.

Apply Gaussian Blur Filter, lower the opacity of the layer and that's it!

Here you have the final image, a 3D Product Box made in Photoshop.

business-card

Today i will show you how you can create your own Business Card using photoshop. You can use this tutorial for your own business or website if you like.

STEP 1

Lets start of by creating a new blank document in photoshop.
Make sure you use the settings below: Width 3,75 inch, Height 2,25 inch and the Resolution 300.
Business Card 1

STEP 2

Now we need to set some guide lines. Because the outer lines are cut lines, they will be cut away when you print your design. The second line is a safety line. Set the outer lines to 38px and the inner lines to 75px.
Business Card 2-1
Business Card 2

STEP 3

Create a new layer and fill it with the color #090909 using the Paint Bucket Tool (press G).
Business Card 3

STEP 4

Now download this texture.
texture-preview

And place it on top of the other layers. Resize the texture till you have something like this.
Business Card 4

Now set the layer mode to Color Dodge and the opacity to 40%, You can use a lower or higher opacity if you like.
Business Card 5

STEP 5

Now create a new layer and paint the borders with black, using a big soft brush (press B). I used a size 200 brush.
When u painted the borders set the opacity of the border layer to 40%.

STEP 6

Add some text, like your Company name, your Name, Email, Tel and Website. I used Verdana as text style, and added a little line below the company name.
Business-Card-7

I also added a little logo on the right corner:

STEP 7

Finish it, i wasn’t happy with the text order and found a typ error so i have changed it. I also added some cool splatters to the left and right. You can download these brushes here and you can use these brushes for free.

create a cool 3d text scene

In this tutorial i will show you how to create a cool 3d text effect in photoshop. This is a cool effect that you can use for party flyers or something. I advice you to first know the basics of photoshop, before you do this tutorial.

STEP 1
Open a new photoshop file, i created a 600px by 600px file and set the resolution to 72. After that i have added a gradient to the background layer.

3d 0

3d 0-1

STEP 2

Now create the text you would like to appear in 3d, make sure you create every letter on an new text layer. And move the letters around. Something like this:
3d 1

3d 1-1

Select the Move Tool “Press V” and rotate the letters to different directions to create a playfull look.3d 2

STEP 3

Now select 1 letter, so lets select the letter “F” and press “ALT + left arrow on your keyboard” and do this like 7 times.
You will now see that you have created 7 layer copies of the “F text layer” and that they all moved a little bit to the left.
You can create more if you want, for a deeper 3d effect.

Your letter looks something like this.
3d 3

You can see a lot of copy layers in your layer panel.
3d 4

STEP 4

Select the last copied layer, in my case this is “F copy 7″. And ad a gradient to it.
3d 5

This is how your letter will look like:
3d 6

STEP 5

Repeat STEP 3 and STEP 4 to get the same effect to all of your letters. Try different settings for every letter. So dont do “ALT + LEFT” for all your letters in STEP 3, try ALT + UP or RIGHT or DOWN. Just play with it. I also used different gradient colors for the letters. I ended up with this:
3d 7

As you can see in my layer panel i also created some layer groups, to keep the layers ordered.

STEP 6

The letters are very basic now, so i also added a pattern to all of my letters.
To add a patern make sure you lower the opacity of your gradient.
3d 8

I used different patterns and ended up with this.
3d 10

You can download some nice patterns HERE.

STEP 7
Now lets add some shadow and some satin to the text. To do this you need to merge all the layers together except the top layer, see the screenshots below. So select the layers and press “CTRL + E” to merge the layers together.
3d 11 3d 12

Now go to the “layer style” of the merged layer, and add some shadow and satin to the layer.
3d 12-1

3d 12-2

Here you see Shadow and Satin added to the letter F.3d 13

Here i have add it to all the letters. The letters look a lot more 3d now.
3d 14

STEP 8

To finish the text i have added a stroke to the letters. Add a 2 pixel stroke to the “top layer/colored layer” and a 1 pixel stroke to the (bottom layer) background layer. See the screenshot below.
3d 15

STEP 9

Now we have all the basics. It’s up to your imagination to create something special and unique.

These are some options you can add:

1. Change the background by placing a big spiral brush.
Add a new layer on top of the background layer, press B and pick a big spiral brush to fill it. Also set the opacity to 6%.
3d extra 1

2.
You can also add a paint splash on a new layer, using the Brush Tool “B”. For some cool brushes take a look at brushesdownload.com.
3d extra 2

Now it looks like this:
3d extra 3

3.
As final touch you can add a layer on top of all the other layers, and filled it with black using the Paint bucket Tool “G”.
3d extra 4-1

Then take the Eraser Tool “E” and selected a 550pixel Soft Round eraser.
3d extra 4-1-1

And click 2 times in the middle.
1 click:
3d extra 4-2

2 clicks:
3d extra 4-3

Also set the opacity of this layer to 70%.
3d-text

You are done, you have created a Cool 3d Text Scene.
